phrases I'm tired of hearing
"and that's a good thing!"
"at the end of the day....."
"bottom line..."
"under new management"
"and that's a good thing!"
My sister told me about a woman she knows, who has little kids. She buys scotch tape when it's on sale and then when she needs her kids to be occupied while she makes a phone call, she gives them a roll. Genius like this is why I admire moms so much!
So my 11 year old daughter and I went to visit my special friend today. They watched TV while I napped. Wow that felt good. Then we went for burgers to Red Mill. If you are ever in Seattle and like burgers, go to Red Mill, you won't be sorry.
I love Saturday mornings. The kids sleep in, and the house is quiet. A cool clear day here in Des Moines, Washington. The last of my tomatoes are ripening, and I'm getting ready to plant garlic. Tomatoes and garlic, they grow at opposite ends of the calendar!
I was a the tire store (the excitement never ends here) getting my tires rotated. I was watching the guys work on my car. I like to make sure they actually do something. Up drives a young shirt-less guy in a topless CJ-5 (an old Wrangler for you youngsters). Sweet Home Alabama blaring from the audio system. He pulled up, parked, put on a shirt and went inside. He came out with a salesman, talked about tires for a minute or two, and then took off his shirt, buckled in and took off like a shot, same song blaring. "There goes a happy man", I thought.
Mt St. Helens finally blew! I love the thought of it. It makes the everyday problems fade away. Blow so more!
So my 11 year old daughter is too sick to go to school. She does have a cold, but I think she can go. Do I force the issue? I think the real reason is that she is ashamed of the bridge we made for her class project. I think it is great, but some of the other kids are better! I am home with her, and I love the time together, but I have to think of her future. O well, that is my first blog. They can only get better from here.
